I did the post assembly alignments on the mobiles. A rather well engineered radio with true high level AM. I did the biasing of the audio and full alignments. After balancing, a 2 tone peak adjustment. The SSB filters were the best for the days. Now the AF out/modulator can exceed the 100% range which just makes the AM dirty, flattopping and splatter. Watch for preamp clipping too with mic gain. Popular mods were the clarifier for a 'slider' (?) and adding a switch to the PLL for out of band. ![]() Pull the final and replace with a 50 watt Motorola device, these would do 25 watt PEP out very easy. My days at Pathcom ended when the 1000M lost FCC certification for excessive harmonics. About that time, Pathcom concentrated on their marine VHF prcguy : Do you remember a tall slender guy with straw hair and a bit of handlebar moustache, worked in one of the cages ? I don't know about the base but that had the same board. Just noticed where you worked at Pathcom. Yes, I sort of remember someone with that description. I worked in imports when I first hired in 75, didn't know that many people on the US assy side except for Leonard who wore a cool jacket that had a cartoon character on the back that said "Mad Puppeteer" which might have been a CB handle. His wife also worked on the US assembly line. I also knew Larry Hirsch or "Laslo" upstairs in engineering and also Gene Proctor. Just before I left Larry had designed a cool base station not related to any other US made radio that was AM transmit but AM/SSB receive, very unusual. It had a 25w final and a voltage regulator that you could bypass and increase power quite a bit. Larry gave me #2 prototype of that radio when I left. The design got changed slightly and I currently have the production sample they took to all the shows with a plexiglass top cover so you can see the insides. Vintage Pace Sidetalk 1000m Cb Radio 23 Channel Powers On Read Pace Cb Radio Service Model Sidetalk 1000m Vintage Pace Side Talk 1000m 23 Channel Cb Radio & Turner M, 2/u Mic Testedz. CONDITION: The Pace 1000M sidekick is in good preowned condition and has been tested to work but could use some TLC. Its volume is still plenty loud and Its backlighting still shines brightly illuminating the control knobs and front face of the CB in areas.160 Its missing the 3 knobs on the front left turning posts but the posts still works well adjusting the volume and squelch etc. w holes on bottom black plastic from mounting and the usual dust, light scratches and wear marks you would expect from daily use.160 The Mic is being included since it is the mic that came hooked to this unit and it can still be used but needs either replacing or to be fixed as it is not easily functioning.160 Cosmetically the mic could use a cover or outer casing to replace the broken and missing back piece and of course the side trigger needs replacing although it can be engaged by pressing the remaining inner piece of the talk button down.On the bottom of CB there is a selector knob that has no label so i dont know its function.160 The knob has 11 different positions that you can feel as you click through them but It doesn't seem to do anything while powered on so I am not sure if it was done by original owner or came like this but it is there and one person said it may switch between high and low channels but I don't know how to check160 if thats it.Any questions please ask and check back later in week for new photos once CB and mic has been cleaned thoroughly.Returns:I am selling this unit As- Is in working condition with the handset mic included as a bonus that does function but not as intended so please be sure to view all photos and read the description before deciding if this bundle is what your looking for before purchasing. No returns on this unit unless it arrives with a significant difference to the listing description.
